Purpose¶
A checklist to screen newsletters, prayer letters, and digital updates for security and dignity risks.
Instructions¶
Review each item before sending a donor communication. Mark any risks and revise accordingly.
Risk checklist¶
- [ ] Does the communication protect the identity of local believers?
- [ ] Does it avoid real photos linked to pseudonyms?
- [ ] Does it avoid exact location details that could identify a field site?
- [ ] Does it avoid names of minors, vulnerable adults, or at-risk churches?
- [ ] Does it avoid language that exploits poverty or trauma for emotional impact?
- [ ] Does it clearly separate prayer requests from financial appeals?
- [ ] Does it honor donor intent and avoid misleading promises?
- [ ] Does it include a respectful consent statement if using media?
- [ ] Has a team member or supervisor reviewed the message for safety?
- [ ] Is the update transparent without over-sharing sensitive information?
